The best and brightest trotters from across the nation will once again share the spotlight during the winter, with The Great Square returning to the 2026 Queensland Constellations with a brand-new sponsor.

Yabby Dam Farms has been confirmed as the naming rights sponsor for the Group 1 feature for the next three years.

Last year, the event was held as part of the new-look summer carnival, The Starlights, with superstar trotter Keayang Zahara storming home to take out the third iteration of the $150,000 race.

The Yabby Dam Farms The Great Square will return to its winter timeslot in 2026, and will run alongside the Racing and Sports The Rising Sun and the first night of heats for the Ladbrokes Inter Dominion on Saturday, July 4 at Albion Park.

Since taking out last year's feature for three and four-year-old trotting stars, Keayang Zahara has since gone on to claim the Group 1 Aldebaran Park Maori Mile, Group 1 Ladbrokes Trotters Cup and Group 1 Great Southern Star Final.

Previous winners Rockinwithattitude and London To A Brick have also enjoyed success at a Group level after taking out The Great Square in previous years, proving the race remains a breeding ground for aged trotting glory.

RQ’s Senior Racing Manager - Harness Andrew Clarke said it was exciting to see The Great Square return to the Queensland Constellations in 2026.

“Since it was introduced in 2023, The Great Square has firmly cemented its place as the go-to event for the best trotters across the nation during the winter,” Clarke said.

“A number of invitations will be extended to connections of Australasia's best square gaiters, with the first runner to be officially announced early next month.

“The Yabby Dam Farms sponsorship will also continue to assist in bolstering the breeding and racing of trotters across the Sunshine State.”

RQ, with continual innovation at the forefront of its strategic vision, will also announce some exciting new changes to the format in the coming weeks.
