Bettors Delight

IT was rinse and repeat in the key Globe Derby Awards for breeding in Australian harness racing last year.

Record-breaker Bettors Delight extended his phenomenal streak as the top sire by prize money, winning the title for a staggering 13th season in a row.

His star performer was champion pacer Leap To Fame with 16 starts for 15 wins, a second and $1,451,528 in earnings.

Bettors Delight had 446 starters for 310 winners of 762 races and total earnings of $11,101,244.

In trotting ranks, Majestic Son extended his dominance with a ninth successive title for prize money earned by his progeny.

Majestic Son had 178 starters for 96 winners of 232 races and earnings of $2,331,921.

Enigmatic but highly talented Queenslander Gus was his top performer with eight wins from 17 starts and $103,178.

In juvenile ranks, Sweet Lou topped the prize money table by a stallion for the second year running.

The WA-trained Water Lou, who won Australian 3YO Pacing Filly of the Year, was Sweet Lou’s standout star with 17 starts for 13 wins, a second and $247,612.

The 2024 Juvenile Trotting Sire of the Year went to the exciting Volstead for the first time.

His dominance was particularly strong with three-year-olds where his progeny were the three highest earners.

The untapped Keayang Zahara, unbeaten in 14 starts and already a seven-time Group 1 winner, stole the show.
