At the recent meeting of the Inter Dominion Event Committee a unanimous decision was made to award the prestigious Ern Manea Gold Medal to Mr. Kevin Seymour.

The Ern Manea Gold Medal is awarded for significant long term contributions to Australian and New Zealand Harness Racing affairs, OR significant long term contribution to the Inter Dominion Pacing and Trotting Championships.

In announcing Kevin Seymour as the recipient Mr. Allen, Chairman of the Inter Dominion Event Committee, noted the long service that Kevin has given to the industry in terms of an owner, breeder, innovator and administrator.

“Kevin Seymour, through his breeding interest, has been responsible for bringing many great sires into Australia including Fake Left and the recently retired Mr Feelgood. The fact that Mr Feelgood also won an Inter Dominion is testament to Kevin’s eye for a champion” Mr. Allen said.

Kevin is a well known administrator and the current chairman of the Albion Park Harness Racing Club and has been involved at a committee level for a number of years. Kevin has also held positions on the boards of Australian Pacing Gold, Queensland’s Sires Stakes, Albion Park Trust, Australian Harness Racing Council (now HRA) and is a past Deputy Chairman of the Queensland Harness Racing Board, having served two terms in that role.

WATPAC, through its principal Kevin Seymour has also been a long term sponsor and supporter of Harness Racing throughout Australia, including sponsorship of the Inter Dominion Pacing Championships conducted in Melbourne, Gold Coast and Sydney in 2008, 2009 and 2010.

It is also worth noting that Kevin has had some official connection with all six Inter Dominion Pacing Championships conducted in southeast Queensland either as a member of the Albion Park Trotting Club staff, Club Chairman, Club Committeeman, Trust Deputy Chairman, Board Member and in 2009 as the proud part owner of the winner, Mr Feelgood.

Kevin was also a winner of the prestigious JP Stratton Award in 1999, a Pegasus Award in 2004 and the Order of Australia in 2005 so to now be awarded the Ern Manea Gold Medal cements his place in Harness Racing history.
